About WAKARU

How to engage your Japanese language brain?

I have learnt languages myself, all my life… and I have always wondered:

“What is the most effective method to learn a foreign language?”.

Reading articles including scientific research, what I found out is this. The key method for mastering a language is:

To listen to and imitate the target language as often as possible.

Why is video learning effective?

Visual materials are engaging for us who often have short attention spans…(I do!).

Captivating images help learners grasp concepts easily by stimulating imagination and positively affecting their cognitive capabilities. In short learners absorb, comprehend and analyse new information better with images.

Visual & audio stimuli is an effective tool for creating lasting memories. It will enhance neural circuits important for learning.

About Me

Having been born and raised in Tokyo, it’s an honour for me to meet people who are interested in Japan. I enjoy being connected with everybody.

I have experience in teaching Japanese language at various UK institutions, mainly at university, where I loved watching the students flourish and grow. With this online project up and running, I would hope in the future I could be location-free and return to Japan and eat delicious “tonkatsu” with my elderly parents as often as I wish. All the while, helping learners progress and achieve language learning goals.

Apart from language, I am passionate about mental health. I have also worked within the mental health area and had various experience in supporting people with mental illness. I have certificates in different modalities of counselling skills and I’d like to think that these experiences enable me to be a better teacher.

I aspire to have as many subscribers as possible on my YouTube channel. Please support my activity by Subscribe, Share and Likes.
